Beautiful composition with great detail and contrasts. I like the way that you got it to look almost like a high grade charcoal painting.

Location
This portrait was taken in Kolkata, at Ganga Sagar pilgrimage camp.Time
It was in the morning in winter, while every monks and sadhus are getting ready for the day.Lighting
As it was shot in the morning, so basically it was a soft light of sun.Equipment
This shot was taken by my Nikon D5300 camera with 50mm 1.8g lens.Inspiration
Inspired me to take this photo is the mood of the portrait at that time. I was not prepared for any particular shot at the very moment. But I have seen this is happening in front of me, and that forced me to take a shot.Editing
Yes, I do post-processing, and for this picture, I did basic changes in lightroom, and then some another level of changes in Nik and then back into lightroom. In my camera bag
Normally I shoot with my Nikon D5300 and goto lens is Sigma 17-50 f2.8 lens, also I used to keep my Nikon 50 1.8g lens.Feedback
My advice would be, just feel the ambiance of the place where you want to capture any shot and try to look deep to understand the shot you want to capture. It might happen that all of the things happened very quickly and you also captured it in a single shot. Basically, if you shot regularly and that will gain your experience to take much control of any shoot.
