This image was captured from the top of Greenwich Park, one of the Royal Parks of London. Beyond Queen's House and the Old Royal Naval College is the view looking towards the Docklands during a colourful but frosty and very cold sunset.
The image is a digital blend of exposures lasting five, eight and 12 minutes, combining the reflecting late-afternoon sun against the buildings with a fiery sky at sunset and the early-evening lights as the London cityscape came to life. The green laser cutting diagonally across the sky is the Prime Meridian, which serves as the reference point for Greenwich Mean Time and is used as the reference for all other measures of longitude.
