The Tulip Staircase inside the Queen's House in Greenwich is part of the former royal residence that was built by Inigo Jones in the early 17th century. The building is remarkable for breaking with traditional red-brick Tudor design, built in avant-garde classical white a century before the Palladian style became popular across Georgian England.

The staircase embodies the building's clean style and elegant proportions, and was the first centrally unsupported helical staircase to be constructed in England.
