Behind The Lens

Location

While walking around the neighborhood on an absolutely still morning, I came across a foot bridge that crossed a small brook. I could see that just around the corner there would be a small pond. This is the picture that presented itself there. The best way to view the original, is to turn the viewing screen upside down! Hence the name " Mirror, Mirror, Rollover.

Time

I am a morning person so most of my calm lake reflection photos are taken as early as light will allow. Usually by ten in the morning, the wind has started to pick up an starts to ripple the water

Lighting

Because this pond is located close to a field, the morning light spreads quickly. This pond has developed several terrific sunrise shots too!

Equipment

I always have my trusty Nikon with me. This particular picture was with a tripod, an 18/200 Tamron lens, and no fill flash.

Inspiration

The water was glass smooth and the location was perfect for this shot. It was nearly impossible to tell the reflection from the reflected.

Editing

As with most of my shots, the post processing is minimal. A little fill light here, a little more shadow there. Maybe a little more clarity. I use Lightroom a little, and Picassa for shots that are being loaded to facebook.

In my camera bag

Many times, all I have with me is one of my Nikons and a zoom lens. Most of my pictures are taken on local walkabouts near my home.

Feedback

All I need is my camera and light. I would advise everyone to shoot whatever you like, Learn all you can about your equipment, and practice, practice, practice. Watch youtube videos, talk to other photographers, join photography groups.
