Location
This photo was taken inside the Uffizi in Florence when it had just stopped raining.Time
The photo was taken while I was returning to take some street photos in the Florentine night. It was November 18, 2016 and it was exactly 11.59 PM.Lighting
The surroundings were almost dark at this hour. A few streetlights still on. The light that is seen in the reflection in the water is the light that illuminates the tower of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence and it is the one that inspired my photo. The photo was taken in natural light and without the help of lamps or flashesEquipment
For this photo I used my Nikon D5 equipped with Nikon 24-70; (focal 24mm) f / 8; ISO 12,800; 1/50. I had to keep the ISO very high not having the tripod with me.Inspiration
The beauty of the pool illuminated by the tower of Palazzo Vecchio has strongly inspired me. The problem was that I didn't have a tripod with me because I went to take street photos. This is why I had to raise the ISO brutally by adopting measures (to limit the noise) that I learned over time.Editing
I have not done much post production of this photo. I closed a little, both the excess lights and the too light shadows in the raw room. I had in fact taken overexposed so as not to lighten the shadows that would have produced even more noise than necessary. I learned that (especially at high ISO) it is better to over-expose than to have to open the shadows that inevitably create noise. I then further limited the noise with Color efex and the "difine" filter. In my camera bag
To date my equipment includes: Nikon D850 and D5 with the triad of Nikon 14-24 lenses; 24-70 and 70-200 (all f 2.8). To these are added the 105micro, the 85mm (f.1.4) and the fish eye Sigma.Feedback
Certain photos that may seem impossible (in this case because I did not have a tripod with me) you still have to try. Raise the ISO and try to take having the precautions I spoke of hoping that the photo will be pleasant. In this case I deliberately waited for the human figure to enter the frame in order to give dynamism to the image and a greater sense of size. To take it, I almost lay on the ground to have a framing point that I liked.
