Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photograph on a beautiful autumn day in Frederick MD in the forests near my farm. The leaves were the most beautiful orange colour.Time
I took this during the golden hour, during the hour before sunset to be help me to pull the highlights of the oranges and browns.Lighting
The trees filtered the light coming through, forming a pocket behind my daughter, highlighting her.Equipment
This was with the canon 5d mk iii and the 200 f/2 lens. I don't typically use a tripod when photographing portraits.Inspiration
My daughter was born in fall, so each year we find a new spot to capture the colours of fall and her on her birthday.Editing
I did some slight correction of WB boosted the contrast and vibrance a little. The 200 f/2 produces images beautifully in camera, so there is not much else that I need to do.In my camera bag
I generally carry the 5 d Mk III, the 85 1.2, the 50 1.2 and the sigma art 35mm. I have a variety of creative lenses, that depending upon the look I'm going for, I will carry with me too.Feedback
Watch for the lighting and colours that you are seeking to capture. In photography, patience is always a necessary virtue.
