Location
The foggy mist was like a thick blanket, practically shrouding the island that is situated in the middle of our lake. The conditions were perfect, as I was able to capture the sun through the clouds, as well as the sun’s reflection on the water.Time
This photo of the sun, the island and the water, was taken in the early morning, just before the fog lifted from the lake.Lighting
The humidity was saturated in a way that made everything in the photo appear void of color.Equipment
I used my iphone6 to capture this photo. I balanced the iPhone on a post of the split-rail fence that runs along the edge of the lake.Inspiration
I woke up before dawn, and as the morning was slowly filled with light, I discovered that a heavy mist had enveloped much of the low-lying areas surrounding our house. I quickly grabbed my iPhone and headed straight down to the lake.Editing
This photo was unedited. In my camera bag
At that time, an iphone6, but I presently have an iphone8. I also carry a small, but flexible, tripod.Feedback
If you see an opportunity, no matter how trivial you may think it is, take it as a challenge and test your limits. Once you’ve gotten to that point, step out of the box and use whatever you have at hand that will help in capturing that shot. You also need plenty of patience, but look at that as a time to actually size up what you want to capture. Don’t just look at your subject head-on. Look at what you are photographing from every angle imaginable, including upside down, if need be. You may be giving others a glimpse into a scene that they may never see in real life.
