Wow, amazing colors and contrast in this one. I love the greens and browns against that cloudy blue. Amazing work!!

Location
"Boardwalk" was taken at one of my favorite places to visit to rejuvenate my soul after a long and stressful week, Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge sits between Winnie and High Island, Texas in Chambers County off FM-1985 and is one of the most visited water fowl nesting grounds in Texas. Visitors from every walk of life, young and old alike, are sure to not only of enjoy the water fowl, but the many varied wildlife that call the refuge home, including but not limited to alligators, otters, turtles, and a Puma or two.Time
"Boardwalk" was taken as the sun was setting during October 2016. as I was walking back to my car from the viewing area that overlooks Shovelers Pond. The pond is encircled by a 4.1 mile drive-able loop with informational plaques placed in accessible areas for various wildlife and foliage that can be found in the refuge.Lighting
"Boardwalk" was taken with all natural light as is most of my nature/wildlife photos. Being shot during the fall, our evening sky around coastal Texas tend to be streaked with various clouds which capture the beautiful dynamic of the setting sun.Equipment
For "Boardwalk", I used the Sony A6000 mirrorless camera body with the Sony 16 mm 2.8 lens at ISO 100 with an aperture of F11 and a shutter speed of 1/125. The shot was taken handheld as I find tripods a bit cumbersome when taking wildlife shots.Inspiration
I suffer from depression and anxiety and tell everyone that photography is my therapy. Being in nature feeds my soul and it calms my mind. The task of finding a worthy images and the technicalities of setting up the shot allows my focus to shift from the chaos and storms of life to the image I am capturing, therefore giving a moment of peace if only for that singular moment.Editing
"Boardwalk" had very little post processing done. In Lightroom 6, if I remember correctly, I adjusted the images color to mimic how my mind saw the image before slightly lifting the shadows and adding a bit of contrast and clarity to give it a slight HDR affect without being too over-the-top.In my camera bag
I always have my Sony A6000 mirrorless body, my Sony 16 mm 2.8 lens, my Sony 50 mm 1.8 lens, my Pentax K to NEX Fotasy adapter, my Sear PK 135 mm 2.8 manual legacy lens, and my 2x PK teleconverter. These lenses allow me the flexibility to capture a variety of images both near and far,Feedback
If I could offer just one bit of advice it would be this- Learn everything you can about your gear and then throw all that knowledge away. The reasoning behind this bit of advice is simply this- Create images that YOU the photographer will love whether that Image is technically perfect or not.
