Location
We were visiting the Finger Lakes region of New York and while driving I did a double take when I saw this by the road. It turned out to be the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum (https://www.glennhcurtissmuseum.org). His company designed the C-46 among many other aircraft. I made a note to come back early in the morning when I could take some time without everybody else being impatient!Time
This was in the Fall, and very early in the morning. Beautiful light, with cloudy sky.Lighting
This was early morning light - - the drama in the clouds helped, as did the distant colors on the hills.Equipment
Canon equipment - a 7D which I had just bought. Shot as HDR images from a low tripod mountInspiration
Such a juxtaposition of an aircraft sitting in a field, with grass grown up around the site. Hence the name "Out to Pasture"Editing
This was HDR processed in Photomatix ProIn my camera bag
Canon bodies and lenses - usually 5DmkIII at times with 6D or 5DMkII as alternates. Typically the normal lenses: My walkaround fav is the 24-105 F4, but I also haul around a 16-35 2.8LII, 50mm 1.4 and often a 70-200 2.8. Lately I've been using a Sigma 150-600 to capture landscape details from a distance, which can make for an interesting composition.Feedback
Make sure you have time and are not worried about others being anxious to move on! And early mornings in the Finger Lakes can be quite frosty!
