On Saturday night I had plans to go shoot the Milky Way once more this season. All the forecasts I checked (and I check everything obsessively) said the skies would be clearing up by 9pm. We drove to Kananaskis in the evening and were greeted by rain and dark ominous clouds. The rain turned into a monsoon, the winds raged and eventually snow coming down hard as well. So we drove to Canmore, rethought our life choices, watched the forecast degrade by the hour and decided to just do a sunrise hike after a very short nap. Nature had one more joke to pull, we did quite a bit of the approach in clouds and fog but we kept on and were rewarded with a stunning sunrise with pretty snowy peaks.
