Location
This photo was taken in London. A little side road just off The Thames River. Not a busy road, but a road that has great views of the iconic Shard.Time
I was going to meet a friend to take some photos in Somerset House one afternoon but as i was walking up i noticed grey light shining across the river. I couldn't let this opportunity go. It made me slightly late but I'm sure he understood.Lighting
The sun was pretty low this day so the light was strong. It really works well if you get it to work for you.Equipment
My new favourite setup was used for this shot. A Nikon D600 with a Zeiss 25mm lens attached. Always produces quality shots. I also used a 5 stop grad on the sky to give it a darker mood.Inspiration
The light is what drew the attention, i loved the composition,all i needed to wait for was the right person to walk along. It wasn't long before a woman with amazing blonde hair that just had a fantastic glow as she walked along.Editing
This photo was one of the first i processed in Photoshop. Not a great deal was done but the sky was darkened a little and the building lit. Also some sharpening added in the foreground.In my camera bag
Now I'm only using prime lenses i tend to carry a lot more. From an 18mm to a 135mm. A set of ND filters and grads. A remote, spare batteries and memory cards and a tripod.Feedback
Work on the composite. Get this correct then you just need to wait for the ideal person to enter the frame. Its always good to find something that people recognise, like The Shard in this photo but look for an angle thats not been seen before.
