Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken on one of the stations of the Severn Valley Railway.

Time

This was around 4pm during the day. We were just planning to go back to our hotel when the rain fell really hard, so we hid underneath a roof - and managed to catch this fantastic view.

Lighting

It was just a great combination of the steam and rain really. Really soft light due to clouds and rain. which dispersed the steam from the train.

Equipment

This photo was taken handheld with my Nikon D5500.

Inspiration

I just love steam trains, so me and my husband we took a trip by steam train along the Severn Valley - and it was absolutely splendid.

Editing

I used Lightroom to adjust the contrast and the exposure of the photo.

In my camera bag

I normally just carry my camera (Nikon D5500) with some lenses (I love my Sigma wide angle one) for light travelling. If I am planning a specific photo I would most likely take my tripod and set of Lee filters with me as well.

Feedback

My advice would be to just go to the places and see what opportunity brings, as you never know what you will capture.
