Location
This photo was taken on a beach between Del Duque and La Caletta on Tenerife. There were many columns made of piled stones, typically from 15-30 cms tall.Time
It was during our early evening walk. I had taken my camera and was just looking for interesting images.Lighting
Only that this was only a small pile of stones, but by shooting from a very low angle I was able to eliminate al everything except the slope of stones and the moody sky. A higher angle would have included beach/sea/island/etc. It was the classic golden hour which helped and I added a little extra exposure to make sure I got foreground details that I could enhance on post-production.Equipment
Handheld Nikon 3300 with a 18-55 lens.Inspiration
I just saw something interesting and then went looking for the angle. I thought the set up made the image more dramatic and created an interesting sense of larger scale.Editing
I used Affinity's Photo to process this along with Topaz's Adapt plugin. This allowed me to pull out the foreground making a more balanced exposure. In my camera bag
I am still learning. My camera is a Nikon 330 or the Galaxy S8, both shooting in RAW. I have the two zoom kit lenses that came with the camera and a 35mm prime lens.Feedback
My advice is to go with your gut if you think there is something interesting. Don't be afraid to play with perspectives and viewing angles.
