This photo was taken in the north of Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. We were on a back road in our 4x4 Jeep with a storm approaching when we saw these elephants emerge from bushes.Time
This was mid afternoon on a very, very hot summers day on the sub-saharan plains. We had not had rain in weeks and the sight of the grey skies in the distance were giving us hope of a spectacular storm.Lighting
Despite being day-time the distant storm was creating a moody atmosphere. I love capturing the lighting a storm creates, despite quite a beautiful scene of the elephents you feel a sense of calm danger.Equipment
This was purely the work from a relatively basic camera taken off auto mode. Coolpix P900 - Apature 45/10 - Exposure 1/640 - ISO 100Inspiration
I grew up always loving animals and always knowing that one day I was going to see the world, go to the places people always say "one day" about. I followed my passion of animals through to become a Zoologist with the dream of one day working with Chertahs and seeing the wildebeest migration. This resulted in me living in Tanzania and looking for ways to support myself - I had a camera glued to me so started teaching myself. This moment if the elephants in perfect formation just captures the Serengeti perfectly.Editing
I try to do little processing on my photos - a tad of sharpening and a deepening of the colours in the sky to better resemble what I had seen by eye.In my camera bag
I am still learning so much and still working with badic cameras. Hoping one day I can get good and get myself something that helps to enhance what I am doing. Just my Nikon P900 and a tripod in my bag.Feedback
Wildlife is unredictable. Be patient, they are there, sometimes you just have to give them time.
