I noticed a sizable patch of beautiful ground cover that was covered in dew droplets. The early morning sunlight shown across the dew drops causing them to twinkle on the pretty delicately shaped leaves of the ground cover.Equipment
The shot was taken impromptu, handheld with a Canon camera, 100mm macro lens, no flash.Inspiration
The beauty of the unexpected early morning scene lit up the dew drops on the pretty ground cover and I leaned in close to try to capture the beauty of it all. I was wandering around the beautiful botanical gardens and did not expect to find a scene like this. I was in the early phase of learning photography and instinctively sensed that this was photo worthy and tried to capture it as I saw the beauty of it.Editing
This was a macro in the early stages of learning macro. Even though I used a very nice macro lens, I did lean in very close to capture the image, resulting in a very shallow depth of field. The resulting blur beyond the foreground leaves is nice, but the center big dew drop was a bit blurred, so after doing some basic development adjustments, I applied a bit of sharpening to that.In my camera bag
My equipment has been mainly Canon cameras and lenses. I like the flexibility of zoom lens for the most part, but for macro, I prefer my 100mm macro lens. It also does nicely for distance shots, too.Feedback
Close up or macro shots are better captured with a good macro lens. Better results are achieved when you are at least the minimum distance or more from the subject that the lens requires for sharp focus.
