Location
The photo was taken in the gardens of Baddesley Clinton Hall - a National Trust property located in the centre of England - it was actually a stop to just break up a journey from the Peak District to Wales.Time
This photo was taken on August 18th - 11:59Lighting
The day was a bright day, and it was taken at the peak of the sun, but if anything that just helped lighting up the photo.Equipment
This photo was shot on a Canon 1200D, with a 18-55mm lens, with no tripod or flash. I find shooting flowers a lot easier handheld.Inspiration
I love taking photos of flowers, I think the colours are awesome. So when we arrived at the property I was excited to see lots of them. Naturally, I walked around the gardens, taking photos - and just seeing if I could see a shot which had just caught the colour perfectly.Editing
With flower photography I only use a small amount of post-processing, maybe just to lighten up the photo a little or to add some colour. Personally I don't like to edit too much, I think it takes the raw beauty away from the photo. In my camera bag
The first thing in my bag, of course, is my camera and it's standard lens, a Canon 1200D with an 18-55mm lens. Other bits of equipment include a packet of ND filters, a lens hood and a lightweight tripod. Along with a shutter release cable and two extra batteries.Feedback
For taking photos head on, try to fill the frame and focus on the central bud or part of the flower. That will pick out the colours and will hopefully give you a good photo. Step slightly to the left or right just to add the rule of thirds, and it may at some depth to your photo.
