Behind The Lens

Location

My daughter and I love to travel the world together. This was on our cruise of the Greek islands. We both absolutely fell in love with this gorgeous island of Santorini.

Time

It was mid to late afternoon when we took this. We were waiting for the sun to set but had to get back to our cruise ship before it did.

Lighting

As you can see, the sky was amazingly clear that day, which made the water strikingly blue and highlighted the whites of the buildings.

Equipment

No special equipment.

Inspiration

I love islands and I love the ocean. Santorini is probably one of the most beautiful islands I have ever visited. I took hundreds of photos while there, but this one just captured what I loved most about it - how deep blue the ocean was from way up on top of the island, and the lovely white stucco contrasting against it. I kept wishing I could have a little home up there where I took that shot to retire in - I still dream that some day I might!

Editing

Not really - just cropped it a bit and toned down the brightness of the sun.

In my camera bag

It depends where I am and what I'm doing - it varies a great deal.

Feedback

Just explore the world around you - whether close to home or far away. Every place has its beautiful aspects. Sometimes they're easy to find and sometimes you have to look a little harder.
