Location
This is a local spot for me newcastle upon tyne quayside with ever changing surroundings from sunsets to sunrises and still water like this image . I purposely went out for still water at high tide and managed to capture it during blue hour with the it being dark enough for all the lights to be lit up.Time
This was about an hour after sunset which I think was around 9pm at the time so this is during the blue hour whilst the sky is dark blue before going dark and then black.Lighting
The lighting along the quayside is what draws me to this particular spot on a regular basis . The millennium bridge can be colouful and go through a sequence of colours.Equipment
This was shot with a nikon D7200 with my kit lens 18mm to 55mm using a tripod and a remote shutter release .Inspiration
I am a true lover of nightlife and the wonders of lights . I waited until the river was flat and like a mirror to take this image so to get the perfect reflections .Editing
I always shoot in raw so a few tweaks of raising the shadows and reducing some highlights is mainly my only work flow on this type of image using photoshops acr .In my camera bag
I carry my camera and my current 4 lenses . So my nikon D7200 with 4 lenses . My sigma 10mm-20mm. Then I have a 35mm prime . Nikon 18-140mm and a nikon 70-300mm. My manfrotto tripod straps to the side of my backpack.Feedback
If you want this shot or similar you need to be going out around 30 mins to an hour after the sun has set . The sky stays blue until it goes dark . Also find a river that will go still or flat around the blue hour time . The lights and any bridges along this river will add to your image . Make sure you use a tripod as this is a long exposure image of around 5 seconds . Other wise you won't get a sharp image at 5 seconds if hand held .
