Location
This photo was taken in the gardens of an medieval building that stands on the coastline in the South of Sweden.Time
It was a gloomy day, cloud cover, rain hanging in the air which really made the flowers stand out like small like small color bursts lighting up the scenery.Lighting
It was fairly dark outside with a few rays of sunlight coming briefly through the clouds. I used this natural light to create the sense of illumination that you see in the picture.Equipment
At the time of taking this photo I used my old Canon 60D and my 100mm macro lense. With the macro you can really create interesting pictures wherever you are and irregardless of the weather.Inspiration
I was walking around the garden looking at the sea of colors when suddenly this detail rich flower caught my eye. It was standing on the edge of the garden, alone as if it was greeting the visitors with joyous welcome.Editing
In the post processing of macros I tend to be very careful and only add a few things that enhances/brings out the details even more. Here I have used Lightroom and Nik software for detail extraction and to darken the background while concentrating the light on the object. In my camera bag
I always carry with me my macro lense as well as a 70-200 lense. With these lenses I feel I get a wide variety of what I can capture with the camera. In addition, I also make sure to have a neutral density filter of 8 to be able to work in different types of light.Feedback
I think the key to photography is being able to find something interesting no matter where you are and irregardless of factors such as weather. This is particularly true when shooting with the macro. If you start looking at the details of objects, you will find that it like stepping into a whole new world of interesting creativity.
