Late afternoon. I believe the truest colors are found in direct sunlight and this fall aster and honeybee just seemed to pop at that time of day.Lighting
Direct sunlight can be your best friend or worst nemesis depending on your subject and desired effect. I'm learning how to tame direct light with various filters and to create different effects with changes in ISO, focal length, shutter, or simply a change in POV while paying close attention to background colors and textures.Equipment
I have been using a fairly cheap and somewhat obsolete Sony NEX-F3. This shot was taken with the 18-55mm wide angle Sony lens fitted with a do-it-yourself make-shift macro. The internet can be a wonderful tool.Inspiration
I love all things nature and the amazing range of colors that it produces. When I have spare moments, I like to venture out into the yard to reconnect with this inspiration. It rarely disappoints.Editing

Very little actually. I like to travel light. There's been times I wished I had brought another lens or filter with me, but I try to plan ahead for what I think I will need so that I'm not carrying a lot of non-essentials.Feedback
Don't be afraid of direct sunlight. Use ND filters, a UV filter and experiment with different camera settings and angles to use the light to your advantage. Click away! You can always delete or post-process it into submission.
