Location
This was one of many shots taken of Mt. Watson in the Uinta Mountains. The area is filled with so many great places to take pictures and relax in nature!Time
The series of photos was taken during the in the hour before the sunset. The smoke from some wild fires burning near by, added to the colorful skies.Lighting
Taken in the golden hour with smoke from a wild fire adding to the colors in the sky.Equipment
Shot with my Nikon D7000 and a 18-140mm Nikkor lens. No flash but I was using a tripod to take the shots.Inspiration
Getting out and enjoying nature and the peacefulness is what I do and it allows me to be in some great places to take shots.Editing
Very light post processing in Lightroom. Just enough to bring out the natural color and sharpen it a bit.In my camera bag
I keep it pretty basic when I am out shooting. Mainly because I can be 5-10 miles into an area. I don't want to carry the extra weight and also changing lenses out in the dusty environment is not ideal. It is really easy to get debris and dust on the sensor. I will usually carry my 18-140mm and a 35mm prime lens for night shots along with a carbon fiber tripod.Feedback
In the digital world we live in now, I say take as many pictures as you can. You will make mistakes but they are the best way to learn and tweek what you are doing to get better. Some times as you are going through the pictures later you might find that one of your favorite shots was one that you just through up your camera and snapped a quick shot with out trying.
