Location
This photograph was taken on a photographic trip I took to the Algarve, in Portugal. As I especially like the light at sunrise, I got up very early and went to this beach (Praia dos Três Castelos), in Portimão, where I had been the day before analyzing the best perspectives to photograph. Despite the few clouds, the morning light allowed the effect that it intended.Time
The photograph was taken at sunrise, around 7:15 am, but waking up was much earlier than that, because to get there and choose the exact location I had to get up at 4:30 am. The fact that I went there the day before to study the place does not mean arriving at the place without enough advance, since the luminous conditions oblige, many times, to review the idea with which we had stayed. In this case, it happened, as this was the second composition that I had imagined. However, what would be my first choice, with the direction of the light, would result in a photograph with too much contrast.Lighting
With the protection given by the rock and with the sunlight still weak, I just needed to try to register the ambience that the light created in the place.Equipment
I used a Canon 6D, a 24 / 105mm f4 lens and a tripod.Inspiration
The entire trip to the Algarve was programmed to record the beauty of the coast, marked for this type of orange rock.Editing
The editing was very simple, just consisting of small adjustments of exposure and contrast, in order to achieve more detail in the shadows and more contrast in the highlights. In my camera bag
In addition to the Tripod that always accompanies me, in my backpack in addition to the camera I have three lenses (16 / 35mm, 24 / 105mm and 70/300), a set of ND filters, the flash and the remote trigger. The rest are backup batteries, battery chargers, a small flashlight and lens cleaning supplies.Feedback
The advice I can give is the usual for those who take landscape photography. Plan the photos, visiting the places first and trying to get to the place, at least 30 minutes before the desired time. And, above all, be persistent. There are many cases where you can only get a good photo after several trips to the same place.
