Location
I took this photo on the Green River somewhere around the Colorado-Utah borderTime
It was the early morning, maybe around 5:30?Lighting
Sunrise lighting can be tricky because there's such a rapid change in colors and shadows. I would say snap as many pictures as you can at each phase of the sunrise.Equipment
All I had was a Go-Pro hero, so I quickly snapped this while cooking breakfast.Inspiration
My experiences on this river were extremely life changing and I needed a picture I could carry out of this adventure that was representative of the change that took place within meEditing
I upped the saturation a little to bring out the colors a little more.In my camera bag
I typically have a tripod, my Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40, a Go-Pro, and some extra batteries. I like to travel lightFeedback
I find sunrises better than sunsets for taking pictures because the world has not quite woken up yet and it makes the frame less busy. Lighting changes so quickly so don't feel bad snapping several of the same picture with slight variations; experimentation is the only way to better understand your camera and the world around you.
