Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on a small lake in Alberta. I was there for a weekend camping trip with my family and friends.

Time

I couldn't tell you the exact time I took this photo, one loses track of time when vacationing. But it was at sunset.

Lighting

Sometimes nature's light is all you need.

Equipment

I used a Canon T3i with a 18-55mm lens.

Inspiration

The orange colors of the sky pulled me away from the campsite onto the lakeside. I was surprised at the lake's transformation when I got there. The dull, characterless lake during the day had been repainted and transformed into the picture I was able to take.

Editing

No.

In my camera bag

I travel light. The T3i and the 18-55mm lens it came with, is what I usually carry.

Feedback

I am petite in size, so in general I see things from a different perspective than others, which helps when taking pictures from an angle closer to the ground. Which was the case in this picture. So my advice would be to take pictures from different heights when able. Also it doesn't hurt taking multiple pictures then you have a greater chance of getting the right one. But most important carry your camera wherever and whenever you can, the perfect picture could be just around the corner and you don't want to be caught without your 'third eye' (what my husband calls my camera).
