This photo was on my front porch. My husband has put up a hanging flower box and the cardinals took it over before we could get flowers in the box.Time
It was late evening and the mother had flown over to our feeder for a last bite of dinner.Lighting
I really didn't have to do anything as far as lighting on this photo. There was still plenty of natural light left for the picture.Equipment
I happen to have my phone with me as I went out the front door. I have a LG G4 android phone. It has an excellent camera with auto and manual settings which I love for macro shots.Inspiration
The little cardinals popped up as I walked out the door and it was perfect timing. Those eyes and beaks looking up at me was just a great moment.Editing

I have a Canon T6i with a 18-250mm Sigma lens, a 70-300mm Canon lens, a 800mm Vivitar lens, a tripod, a mono pod and as always my phone.Feedback
I always try to be ready for anything and have my cameras ready. It's a good idea to scout out a few locations for the things your interested in taking photos of and be patient. Make sure your prepared before you head out. If I'm out in the weeds I have a mosquito netting jacket with a hood. I try not to have to wear insect repellent or perfume because everything I'm intersted in capturing pictures of can smell me coming. Did I say be patient? Nature has its plan for the day and it may not coincide with yours!
