The photo was taken at my home in Mahopac, NY. I am a self-taught photographer who enjoys capturing the beauty of flowers. This particular one was an orchid that had bloomed.Time
I woke up and was astounded by the beauty of the newly bloomed orchid in my living room. The sweet scent was also powerful. It was the color combination in the curved flower shape that needed to be captured. I took the picture at 6 am when the sun was not out fully. It is a macro picture taken with a SONY camera and macro lens. The picture reminds me of the bottom of a skirt of a dancer going around in waves.Lighting
The lighting was the simple daylight as the sun was coming up. I did not change or add any additional lighting system. I like the natural light effect!Equipment
I utilized a SONY mirrorless A6000 camera with a SONY Macro lens. I approached the orchid and with a steady hand began taking pictures focusing on the wave of the flower.Inspiration
As a novice, self-taught photographer, I have loved to focus on flowers and nature. Flowers show how wonderful different colors can come together and trigger our emotions as we see it. This specific orchid was a new bloom that would not return at least for a couple more years. Having captured such a wonderful bloom so soon was a surprise, but also it shared its beauty with all!Editing
I did not do any post-processing.In my camera bag
I always have my SONY camera and a few lenses: Macro and Zoom. I am just getting to learn all of the components and methods!Feedback
Take a risk and don't be afraid! Have the equipment in one location so it is easy to change lens if you need to. Follow your instinct as you capture each picture.
