Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at my college campus a few years ago, while I was in school for Filmmaking. I really enjoy macro photography because it shows life on a different scale that humans aren’t a use to seeing.

Time

I took this during the golden hour, in the afternoon, when the lighting was warm and not over powering.

Lighting

Lighting is so crucial, even when at the mercy of the sun. I must have taken this image from various angles because unlike a strobe, I couldn’t move the light to get the proper lighting so I had to control my angle and camera settings to achieve this look.

Equipment

I used my Panasonic LUMIX GH3 with my Voighander 35mm Lens F1.8

Inspiration

I love Bees and I love watching them work. Plus, the flowers during the time of year, look fabulous. Inspiration finds me in a moment, it’s not always a planned out shot. I had my camera with me, happened to walk past this bush with lots of bees and snagged this photo real quickly.

Editing

Just made the colors pop out a little more but otherwise, not much post work done.

In my camera bag

Tripod, various lenses, a bounce/reflective card, batteries, SD Cards, and filters.

Feedback

Pay attention to the smaller things around you. Notice that tiny bug in the grass or on the flower. Try looking at the world with a different-than-your-normal perspective.
