It was during the mid afternoon I framed this shot of the Emperor DragonflyLighting
The lighting was perfect during the Mid Afternoon well getting a close up shot was not that easy as the dragon fly was flying at high speed. I ended up taking multiple shots.Equipment
I used Nikon D7100, Nikkor 200-500mm Lens, Hand held and no flash or other devices used to capture this shotInspiration
First I have to agree I love to shot whatever I see is valuable and live. As most of my shots are of Insects I choose to capture this Emperor Dragonfly. It was quite challenging to get a good frame of it as I have struggled for 3 months to get a picture of this. They are very sensitive to small movements where I failed to capture this with macro lens on any short range zoom lens. I guarantee no body will get a first catch on their first move. This inspired me to chase and get a glimpse of this Emperor Dragon Fly.Editing
Yes I did post-processing. As I shot this shot from almost 5 yards away approximately. So have to do more cropping of the edges. Well I used Adobe Lightroom for post processing. Played with Shadows, Noise correction and exposures to get a better view of this shotIn my camera bag
I used Nikon D7100, Nikkor 55-300mm, Nikkor 18-55mm, Sigma 105mm, Nikkor 90mm, Nikkor 200-500mm and a budget tripod.Feedback
The best shot is this kind can be taken during evening fall when the sunshine is more vibrant from the background. But have to find a perfect angle from ground to get the complete frame with less highlights and lost shadows. I believe this action shot will be very difficult with a tripod from my experience as I have worked 3 months to get this perfect shot hand held.
