Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was shot at Lake Martin in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana. Lake Martin is one of my favorite places to shoot. I saw him sitting on the limb and ever so slowly moved closer to him. He never moved! Egrets are my favorite birds to shoot!

Time

This was shot about 4:30 pm. The sun goes down to the back of the lake.

Lighting

There was no editing on this shot. All natural light.

Equipment

I think I was still using my Nikon 5100 with my 55-300 lens. Just slowly picked up my camera and shot it.

Inspiration

Egrets are my favorite birds to shoot! He was that close to me without moving!

Editing

None. That is what came out of the camera.

In my camera bag

I now shoot a Nikon 7100 but always with my faithful Nikon 55-300. I bring my macro lens for the little things out at the lake like bugs on flowers.

Feedback

Take your time. Don't move fast to frighten birds or any object that can move. He was sitting on a jetty about 10 feet from me and I just moved very slowly to get to him. He now hangs in my living room!
