Here you can see the rather lopsided Milecastle at Cawfields on Hadrian's Wall. To the west the wall climbs a sharp rise and is rather suddenly cut off. This was due to quarrying in later historical periods. While that section of the wall is lost, a beautiful quarry lake remains.
