Thank you for joining my Dandelion Magic challenge! I love this photo. The beauty and magic of dandelions and childhood all in one.

Thank you all so much! My little granddaughter is so precious, just like this image .

Location
I took this picture at a nearby park. No one was there as it had been raining all afternoon.Time
It was evening and the sun had just appeared after a rain.Lighting
I had been searching for some sunny spot with dandelions so we could get some backlight on Nilsa, my granddaughter. My daughter found this tree stump and it worked out to be the perfect chair for her.Equipment
I have a NIkon D700. I used my 70-200 2.8 Nikon lens zoomed to 160. speed 400, ISO200, f4.0. My SB800 speed light was attached to my camera at full power for some fill light. When I am standing closer I usually reduce the power of the speed light, but for this shot full power was perfect.Inspiration
I was searching to get a sunset shot with backlight, my favorite set up for pictures. Nilsa is so sweet and innocent I was looking to capture that spirit in the image.Editing
I use Lightroom for basic edits then take it into Photoshop for the polish work. I clean up her skin tones and add some color overlays to make it a little more golden. In my camera bag
I usually shoot with 2 cameras so that I don't have to change lenses. My second camera is the Nikon D800. One camera with the longer zoom lens and the other one with the 24-70 wide angle zoom that way no matter how close I am I can get the shot. I usually use the speed light for outdoor shooting. Every once in a while I have them face the light for some natural light shots with no flash, but most of the time I shoot into the sun. Love that backlight! Reflectors are handy to either block the light from getting into my lens, shade the subject or reflect on the subject if needed.Feedback
Don't be afraid to use flash outside!! That extra light is critical for proper exposure and elimination of "raccoon eyes". I love the long lens for shooting children because I can be out of view and they become more natural in their posing and actions. Use a helper for directing them with eyes and actions. Give them props to play with as it creates a more natural shot as well as gives them something to do. Put color overlays on you shots in Photoshop to give the color of warmth you are looking for. I use up to 3-4 colors on top of an image and set the mode to soft light and reduce opacity. I just erase a little off the subject so their skin stays natural. Look for the light to put them in and make sure it is late enough in the evening to have the sun be behind them.
