This tiny species of flower is about the size of a dime. The flowers grow as a nice round cluster, the size of an orange. I see it often, pretty much year round, but never knew of its beauty until I zoomed in with the lens. Just to provide proportion you can see the strand of a spider web.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the Southwest of Florida. I am not sure of the plant species, however the flower is seemingly always in bloom. Each flower is about the size of a dime.

Time

10:00am.

Lighting

Granted the image was shot in the late part of the morning, but in the shade.

Equipment

Interestingly enough, I used a BlackBerry phone, no flash.

Inspiration

This image was taken prior to my having knowledge about photography. I took a stroll on a hot morning and, in an effort to dodge the heat, I walked under shade when possible. I noticed this plant from a far and took a very close look. I simply found it to be beautifully exquisite.

Editing

Yes. After emailing the image to myself, I imported into Lightroom. I tried several commands/adjustments such as various colour balances, shadows, illumination, etc...dehaze is, by far, my favorite.

In my camera bag

Paper towels, tweezers,a mirror and a magnifying glass.

Feedback

The only advice I can give is to notice the little things that surround you. More times than not you'll find so much beauty. Capture it, then zoom in and take an even closer look.
