I love when the old farms are still standing and left "as they were". Great find and capture. Congrats!

Behind The Lens

Location

This is near Foremost, Alberta. The countryside has plenty of opportunities to find old barns and cars like this one

Time

It was around 3:00 pm in a cloudy afternoon.

Lighting

I really like sunny and blue skies, but this time, I think the the clouds added a very special atmosphere softening the light

Equipment

I used my Nikon 5200 with a 18-250 Sigma lens, no tripod. Aperture: f/3.5 ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/400 Focal Length: 180/10

Inspiration

I love old cars, barns and grain elevators, which are gradually disappearing, I try to stop for them at every chance I have when I'm driving

Editing

Yes, I worked on the HDR contrast of this image increasing shadows and reducing highlights to produce a better balanced image. I normally don't like to edit or modify too much my images.

In my camera bag

I don't have much equipment but my Nikon 5200, a versatile lens (Sigma 18-250 mm with macro capabilities), Manfrotto tripod and an extra battery just in case I'm doing long exposure.

Feedback

Finding this kind of setting (old barn and cars) requires a lot of driving in the countryside. I've been lucky because during summertime I'm often doing fieldwork and spotting opportunities that I can come back and capitalize in a later moment. This one was completely abandoned so I didn't have to ask for permission. Research your surroundings. I recently discovered an incredible ghost town called Rowley in Alberta and I enjoyed very much. I have some of the shots from that visit in my profile (Old Tractor, Rowley Train Station, Tractor Wheel) I'm sure you can find the same nearby your own city.
