Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at a Steampunk festival in a vendor booth.

Time

I honestly don't remember. Probably late morning or early afternoon.

Lighting

I do remember that the light was fairly flat that day. The 5D was still kind of new to me at that time, so I was really changing settings around a lot to try and see what did and didn't work for me. This was taken with the natural light available.

Equipment

This was shot with a 5DMkIII, hand held with a 70 - 200mm F2.8 wide open.

Inspiration

A vendor was selling these and they just caught my eye as a neat little idea. Sheet Music as a flower, the representation of a musical idea coming into blossom, and the shallow depth of field was chosen to sort of enhance that thought......blurry at first, becoming clearer, more focused as it blossoms.....

Editing

I think I was playing around with Silver FX at this time.....

In my camera bag

It really depends on what I'm doing. For a day like this, I will bring the 70-200 F2.8 and a 24-105 F4 and not much else......maybe a single flash.

Feedback

Just shoot what you feel. Try new things. Don't get caught up in technical details to much......be creative in your way and you'll find what works for you.
