Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my home, in a small area I had set up with continuous lighting.

Time

This was taken in the early evening, with artificial lighting.

Lighting

I was using three soft boxes to light an area....one on either side and one overhead....and was a little forward of the lights.

Equipment

This was taken with a Sony a77 Mkii, with the 16-50mm ƒ2.8 lens at ƒ2.8 and 40mm. The Camera was sitting on a tripod.

Inspiration

This was more of an accident than anything, as far as composition goes. I had just purchased this camera as an upgrade, and was playing around with some new lights. I reached back on the camera while I was in front of it and accidentally fired off a shot.

Editing

I initially processed this in color, and didn't care to much for it. The final edit was done in silverfx pro2, and was more or less just trial and error until I got something I liked.

In my camera bag

I've been working on trying to narrow my bags down, so lately I've been carrying just what I think I need to shoot for that day. This changes often, as I like to shoot wildlife a lot. So the 100-400MM comes with my almost always, and I like to take along my 50mm ƒ1.8 almost always to. Everything else is situational.

Feedback

This particular shot was more or less an accident. So what I would say is to just play around, digital storage is cheap! Don't be afraid to shoot and keep things, even if you think they are going to be crap at the moment you shoot it! You can always delete it later if you really don't like something on review.
