This photo was taken in November, 2009 on a friend's Horse Ranch in Florida.Time
This was the early morning feeding so it had to be around 6:30 am.Lighting
I love the early morning for shooting photos. The low angle of the light adds depth to the shots.Equipment
I used a Nikon D300s with a Nikon 18-200mm VR lens.Inspiration
I drove from Northern California to Florida because a dear friend invited me to spend Thanksgiving with she and her family. This was my first time spending any extended time around horses. Getting up before sunrise every morning to help with the feeding made for some wonderful photo opportunities. The lighting and subject matter was perfect.Editing
The only post processing I did was to adjust the levelsIn my camera bag
Most of my camera gear was stolen in 2017, so these days I carry a Nikon D7500, Nikon D200, Nikon 70-300mm VR lens, Sigma 18-300mm OS lens, Nikon 50mm manual lens, Bean bag, pocket tripod, batteries, lens cloth, blower, etcFeedback
Most everyone takes photos of sunsets, but in the morning you very frequently have it all to yourself. You have to be willing to get up before the sun does. I helps to have a spot picked out where you want to shoot, but not always necessary, Just know where the sun will be and keep your eyes open for photo opportunities.
