This barn is right across the road from my home in Kentucky. I've been looking at this barn everyday since I was a little girl. Its an old tobacco barn and it is now used for tractor storage.Time
This photo was taken in the evening around 7 PM. We had just gotten a big rain storm. It was still raining just a little. This is one of the brightest and most colorful rainbows that I have ever seen. I just had to get a shot.Lighting
The rain and the sun shining through the storm clouds created the perfect lighting for the rainbow.Equipment
I always shoot with a Canon. I've been using Canon cameras and lenses since 1996. I also have a manfrotto tripod, and it's great!Inspiration
I've started shooting a series on this barn, photographing it with different lighting and in different seasons. Sometimes I shoot at sunrise, or sunset and sometimes mid-day. The sunlight changes the color of the barn and the surrounding landscape. Sometimes there are rainbows, and sometimes there are hay bales. Its really amazing to see the same barn everyday, but it always different, always changing.Editing
I always shoot in RAW, so I ran this photo through photoshop to adjust the lighting and colors to insure a perfect shot showing all the colors of the rainbow. In my camera bag
My go-to lens is my Canon Macro 100mm. I love shooting everything with my macro, bugs, flowers and sometimes even barns or people. I also carry my Canon 18-35mm and a Canon 55-250mm. I always carry a Canon 50mm. My main camera body is a Canon EOS 7D. I have a Lily Deanne Lucido camera bag. It's the perfect size and it is so comfortable!Feedback
Patience is key when shooting rainbows. You can't just take one rainbow shot and walk away. You must stay and keep shooting because the rainbow will change, getting brighter or dimmer.
