Behind The Lens

Location

This was a part of restored gas station on old Route 66 on Commerce Oklahoma. It stands as a non working tribute to days gone by.

Time

This I think is best shot in bright afternoon sun. Bringing out the suttle tones of the patena.

Lighting

As I stated before the lighting should be bright. The meriad of tones is lost in subdued light.

Equipment

This was shot with a Canon T6s and a 18-135mm usm .

Inspiration

I love the old mechanical things especially when they are in their untouched condition. This one just begged for a picture.

Editing

Very little post work on this, First off I very rarely crop, in 99% of my photos they are as I shot them. I darkend the exposure slightly to bring out the tones

In my camera bag

Since this shot I have switched to a Fuji xt-2. With an 18-135 xf, a 12mm f2 and a 35mm f1.8 as prime. Better exposure control over mirror cameras plus I love Fuji glass.

Feedback

There's always something to capture, no matter where you are. The simplest things can be a wonderful creation we just have to stop and look. Now retired I was a professional photographer for 20yrs, I knew what my shots were going to look like before I hit the shutter. You just have to "see"
