Lovely juxtaposition of colours. I would have been tempted to crop the floor out, though, just to make it a bit tighter and integrated.

Thanks Stephen, I considered a tighter crop but wanted to balance the pink with the green. I only crop my photos in photoshop in extreme cases, what you see is what I shot.

Behind The Lens

Location

This particular shot was taken at a restored old gas station on route 66 in Commerce Oklahoma. I loved the rich colors that were used in contrast to the fixtures that were weathered from the elements.

Time

The sun was high and made long shadows along the door and wall. Probably around 1pm.

Lighting

It was a bright cloud less day

Equipment

Canon T6s, and a Canon 18-135 set at 42mm. Exposure was 125sec at F11 and an ISO of 200

Inspiration

I love old architecture and nostalgic places. This was on my list of places to shoot and just waiting for the right moment.

Editing

Contrast was adjusted to bring up the colors. I don't like to crop my photos and try to shoot what I expect to be the final print. Something I learned in my professional career with film.

In my camera bag

Usually a zoom and a fast prime, a flash for fill in. Always extra batteries and Data cards. On longer trips I have a smaller back up camera with a fixed lens.

Feedback

Shoot what you like and try to capture the mood and feeling of what you see. My rule of thumb is "if you wouldn't be proud to hang it on your wall, why are you taking the shot"
