This photo was taken in my front yard in Bothell, Wa. This year I had dozens of blooms on my camellia bush. I love the vibrant color pink.Time
This was taken late in the morning after a spring rain. The petals are so soft and almost feels like fabric but waterproofed to keep the water balled and puddled up on them.Lighting
This was all natural light. After the rain the sun came out and it caught my eye with the water reflecting.Equipment
I shot this with a Nikon D7100, Nikon lens 18-55mm, no tripod, no flash, 1/160 sec, f5.6 @48mm, ISO 200Inspiration
My garden inspires me with all the colors from the blooms. The camellia is the first to bloom and its such a gorgeous flower that I had to capture it. This was maybe the one out of 10 frames that I took. This focused more on the water drops and the others were more of the pattern of the petals.Editing
Crop and crop. With this I wanted you to look and figure out what flower this was and didn't want any of the leaves in the picture. In my camera bag
For just non event a grab and go shoot I take my Nikon D7100 and four lenses 18.55mm, 300mm zoom, prime 35mm and a Tokina wide angle. Flash, which just decided to fail on me at my last event shoot. Rain camera covers because I live in the Pacific Northwest, it likes to rain here. Cleaning supplies because if my husband and I decide to go for a drive with the dogs, well I get fur floating and sticking to my lens. Oh and lots of business cards, because you never know what or whom you will capture and awesome moment!Feedback
Just take the picture. Capture what you were wanting to capture not what someone else would want to see. Emphasis on what inspired you the most. Take a few frames from different angles. Then go for the opposite like myself. At first I want to capture the pattern of the petals, then went for the water drops and color.
