In rural Ethiopia, you can witness a way of life that hasn't changed for thousands of years. These men, farmers from high in the Lalibela mountains, were carrying produce to market. Footwear is either cheap plastic shoes (from China, of course), or nothing, and the trail to the town of Lalibela is brutally rough and rocky. Once at the town market, produce is mostly exchanged for other goods, which are then carried all the way back up the mountain - usually a difficult hike of several hours. It is a very hard life.
