Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken in my college apartment during my junior year. I always had my camera out when I was sitting in the apartment because I never knew when my roommates would do something wild.

Time

I loved tell whole roll that I took during this night but this image was one of my favorites. I was taking during a night time party we were having with all my roommates.

Lighting

The lighting was just regular florescent lights in a university apartment.

Equipment

I shot this on a Canon AE-1, with a 50mm lense, using 35mm film.

Inspiration

I always love taking portraits and when people know you have a camera out they usually hide away from the camera so that's why I always had my camera out around my friends. Usually I didn't take many photographs but it was such a fun night and everyone was just stripping off their clothes trying to cool down I thought this is perfect. I love this candid portrait because even when everything was crazy you can see how calm she was in the moment.

Editing

I didn't do much altering with this image, I mostly just increased the contrast to make the darks completely black.

In my camera bag

I usually keep some lense filters, my other lenses, extra film, a lighter, extra batteries, and two cameras out of my many.

Feedback

Always keep a camera with you because of a perfect image shows up you don't want to miss it. Because I always had my camera people became more comfortable with me just wearing it and when the perfect composition showed up I didn't have to scramble to find/grab my camera it was right there.
