Location
This photo was taken at Mount Sutton in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. The sloping mountain is towards the US which can be seen in the background.Time
This was towards mid-day after a snowfall. All the trees are heavily laden with snow.Lighting
Nothing special other than shooting away from the direct sunlight, which is extremely bright on the white snow.Equipment
I used a small compact Kodak camera at the time. The temperature was quite cold at the summit so had to preserve battery life a bit. The shot was taken by leaning the camera against a tree trunk.Inspiration
The snow-ladden trees provided a harsh landscape that impressed me. The word that came to mind was survival in these cold temperatures.Editing
No post-precessing was done.In my camera bag
This was a winter hike situation, so I tend to travel light with a compact camera, no lenses. The harsh temperatures are not the best place to bring expensive gear.Feedback
Go play outside. Winter is one of four seasons. Many folks head south or lock themselves up for the winter. But for the brave (or foolhardy), there are many nice places to see in winter.
