This is a Bohemian Waxwing not a Cedar Waxwing! Look at the rufus colored undertail. A tell tale sign for a Bohemian. Nice photo!

Location
This photo was taken on the South Shore of Montreal. It was a brutally cold morning with nice sunny natural lighting. To say the air was crisp and clear would be an understatement!Time
The shot was taken around 11AM when a flock of Waxwings came to this tree to feats on dried berries. This male specimen cautiously stood guard while I approached the tree very slowly. I took a lot of time after each step to let the birds get accustomed to me and ensure they not feel a threat.Lighting
It was a very sunny day so bright natural light illuminated the entire scenery. I needed to walk around the tree about 180 degrees to get the sun at my back. I did this from a distance before approaching the tree slowly, step by step.Equipment
A Canon EOS 70D camera equipped with an L-Series 400mm zoom lens.Inspiration
This bird rarely shows up in the area so it was a delight to snap a few pics.Editing
Minor sharpening of the photo. In my camera bag
Aside from the above, I carry a Tamron 18-270 zoom lens, a doubler and filters and polarizes.Feedback
Capturing birds this close usually requires patience. In this case, I wanted to get up close and underneath the animal to get maximum color.
