Endemic to Cyprus, assessed as Vulnerable in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
It is a perennial herb, 5-10 cm high, growing from 1,050 to 1,950 m asl altitude and can be found in small openings in forested areas mainly in the Troodos National Forest Park, on a smaller area near Kyperounta and in pine forest openings in Kionia. Its geographical range is 23 km².
This one was taken at Mt Olympus (Chionistra) close to the peak of Troodos Mountains in Cyprus, at 1860 m asl.
