Location
This photo was taken at a local park near me. While out for a walk exploring the park I came across this bridge and photographed it since I rarely go without my camera.Time
It was taken at 12:30, just after noon.Lighting
The sun was at its highest and shining through the opening in the trees. I was looking for the best way to take this picture since I was in the woods, the natural opening provided the best lighting possible with the contrast of the shade in the foreground. I wanted to highlight the bridge and meadow.Equipment
I used a DiMage Z2. Since I couldn’t afford a better camera and for what I use it for, this was the best option for me, I don’t have to carry extra equipment.Inspiration
As I was walking the park trail, the trail led downhill to this bridge, the lush green with the brick red bridge made for a nice picture. The sun shining through the trees made the open meadow glow with light, I couldn’t pass up. I usually carry my camera on walks since I never know what I may find and this walk was no exception.Editing
I rarely post-process my pictures other than cropping. I use a camera with automatic settings and leave it at that since most of my pictures are of vacations and family. This picture is as snapped. In my camera bag
Since my camera has built in zoom lens and a flash, I don’t carry much with me, extra battery, SD cards, a polarized lens filter, rain sleeve and a mono pod. They all fit in a small bag so I can have the essentials with me when I go out. I have upgraded my camera since this picture but it’s still a point and shoot, Canon SX 60, still with the zoom lens and flash.Feedback
Look at things from different perspectives, from above or below. Before taking the picture I try to imagine it in a magazine or framed on a wall and think what would make it stand out and attract attention. Colors, texture, dramatic setting, scale, contrast and lighting are things I think about when composing a picture. Not every trip is successful but there are the unexpected scenes or events that await the alert photographer.
