Beautiful. Your focus could not have been any more perfect for this one. I can't even count the number of times my autofocus does wonky things. You hit the nail on the head with this one. Well done.

There are so many things I love about this; capturing the simple interaction between the two, the clarity of the creatures is framed nicely by the out of focus background. Great image!

WOW!! Again. I am plainly and simply extremely jealous and envious of this shot.

Location
This photo was taken in my backyard. I enjoy taking shots of flowers with a macro lens and these two just happened to show up.Time
This has turned out to be my most popular image. I went out in my backyard, around 5 pm, to see if I could get some shots of flowers. These two lizards showed up on the fence. They were so focused on each other, I was able to get close.Lighting
The sun was still pretty high, but they were behind some plants, so there was shade.Equipment
This was shot using a Nikon D600 and Nikkor 85mm macro lens. Hand held, so no other equipment was used.Inspiration
I was taking shots of some flowers that are in shaded spot at that time of day. I saw these two squaring off, but they are usually so skittish they run off before I can get close. This time, they were so focused on each other, I decided to see if I could get close enough for a shot. They never acted like they knew I was anywhere near and I was able to capture a couple of images.Editing
There were some bright spots due to the sun coming through the plants, so I decreased highlights. Adjusted shadows and clarity. Then just sharpened a little. In my camera bag
I always have my Nikon D810 with a Nikkor 70-300mm lens ready to go. I also pack a D600 as backup. An assortment of lenses. My favorites are the 70-300mm, 24-70mm and 50mm. All Nikkor lenses. Usually have a monopod tied to the bottom.Feedback
My focus is mostly nature/wildlife. As so often happens in this type of photography, this opportunity occurred quite suddenly. I try to learn as much as I can about the subject, so I can place myself where I will have the best opportunity for a good capture, but you never know what will pop up. Be aware of your surroundings and always prepared for the unexpected.
