This is one of the most remote and peaceful places I have ever been. I was awestruck by the grandeur of the Pedersen Glacier and the stillness of the lake in the foreground. Everyone at the Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge embodies the commitment to minimizing impacts on the ecosystem. I instantly fell in love with this picture once I took it because it captured exactly how I felt about what I was seeing and experiencing - the grandeur, the stillness, a place to reflect, and the canoes representing how lightly this land is touched by humans.Editing

I usually take along the Olympus Tough (I bought it originally for underwater shots and for situations where throwing a camera in my pocket is the best option, but it really is a wonderful camera that is simple to use and takes spectacular photos). I also use a Sony DSC-HX300 and a NIKON D5200. All have their pros and cons - and I am still learning to get the best I can from them.Feedback
This shot was a feeling. I have a "regular" shot of this scene that I took first. I liked it but it did not capture how I felt about the scene so I experimented with the camera settings and instantly fell in love with this shot when I saw it on the preview screen on the camera. I loved it even more when I got home and saw it on a bigger screen. My advice? Keep an open eye for what strikes you and experiment with your equipment. You never know what you will find and the journey is so much fun!
