Location
It was taken in the Bjørvika bay in Oslo. Some Wiki- info of the sculpture captured: She Lies (Norwegian: hun ligger) is a public sculpture by Monica Bonvicini made of stainless steel and glass panels measuring approximately 12 metres (39 ft) by 17 metres (56 ft) by 16 metres (52 ft) next to the Oslo Opera House, in Norway. It is a permanent installation, floating on the water in the fjord on a concrete platform, 12 metres (39 ft) above the water surface. The sculpture turns on its axis in line with the tide and wind, offering changing experiences through reflections from the water and its transparent surfaces.Time
This capture was taken at sunset time just after the the sundown early winter season.Lighting
Yes, this moment of the day is very exiting because of the changing contrasts of the sky and reflexions from the water. I never know whats going to look like. This time it turned to a beautiful pink scaled sky and gray scaled sea. The sculpture it self it´s an installation that floats with the water and its always moving slightly all the time. This was stunning moments that I try to show trough the capture!Equipment
I did use my Canon EOS 50D with Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 - 1/40 sec at f/6.3 ISO 100Inspiration
I look after the moments of light changes when the sun sets at this particular place in Oslo because of the contrasts in the sky and the reflexions in the water. It´s always unique and when the sun sets this time of the year, early winter time, the light paints the buildings together in a mirror with the sky.Editing
Yes, I´ve been shooting, since this capture, in raw files to make the best out of my files in LRM. The capture it self was blurry already I just added some gradient filters to enhance the structure and the effect. I did post-processing as you can see in a very unsure way but now I´m going trough earlier captures to improve my skills pos-processing!In my camera bag
I first began my photography in the 35mm SLRs from Canon and have upgraded to DSLR since the digital introduction. I use Canon gear and lately I´ve been experiencing with newer mirrorless cameras as Panasonic and Fuji film... Today I have my Fuji X-T1 with the XF-18-55mm which is basically what I need and make me keep things simple.Feedback
Yes, sunsets are always surprising. I keep calm but focused on what may happen til the very moment of light changes occurs which is what give great results. I´ts about being aware of the place and position of the subiect and get early ready to find the the right angles you want to capture. This sculpture has the peculiarity to float in the water and that makes it and interesting motiv because of the changing position to the light source. Look for the peculiarity in the motiv but simple at the same time: good luck!
