Location
I am not even sure the exact location that this photograph was taken. My husband and I were taking a day trip through the North Georgia mountains and into North Carolina. We do this almost every weekend. I love just hoping into the car and riding around and looking for great landscape and wildlife photo opportunities. In that area there are many waterfalls. Some are roadside and some require a little bit of a hike. This one took a small hike, but it was well worth it. This was one of three waterfalls at the end of the small hike, but it was my favorite by far.Time
This particular picture was take right around lunch time. Probably around 1:00pm. We had stopped at a roadside picnic table when we saw a sign directing us to a nature trail and waterfalls. The trek to reach the waterfall was just as pretty as the waterfall itself. There was some beautiful foliage along the way. Even though we were in the Georgia / North Carolina mountains it almost seemed as if we were in a rain forest. We were under a canopy of trees until the very end of the trail and then it opened up and there was this beautiful waterfall. The trail actually led behind the falls and you could walk behind it. Even though I live in the area and photograph nature and landscapes all of the time, this was the first time I had ever happened upon this particular waterfall.Lighting
All the lighting that is used in this shot is just what was provided by Mother Nature herself. I prefer it that way. When I am shooting outside and the subject is something natural, I want the photograph to show that natural quality also.Equipment
I have three cameras that I normally take with me. However, on this day, the trip was very spontaneous. As we started out the door for our day trip, I just grabbed the case that had my Canon EOS Rebel T5i. I did not have my tripod with me or any of my other equipment that I normally take on my -excursions. I just had the camera and two lenses. I believe that this one was taken using the EF75-300 lens.Inspiration
I am incredibly inspired by anything in nature. I love wildlife, natural landscapes, and pretty much anything that shows the beauty of nature.Editing
What you see with this picture is the way it was taken. There is absolutely no editing done. It was too beautiful of a picture to mess with.In my camera bag
I usually have 2 bags with me when I go on photo excursions. But, if I just have my main one, I always have my Canon EOS Rebel T5i. That is my "go to" camera. It is my old faithful. I also, usually, carry a monopod and a tripod. I also have a smaller Canon that does great panoramic shots. Every camera and lens that I use is a Canon. That is just my preference.Feedback
To find a beautiful shot in nature, you must first appreciate nature and then you can find beauty in anything. Once you find and recognize that beauty, you can find the prefect shot.
